Margaret Schumann received Honorable Mention, and Jean Pascek won Second Place in the Waukesha County Courthouse Purchase Award Contest this fall.

LMA member Joyce Eesley will be the featured artist for the Alverno College Homecoming Alum Exhibit, “Connections.” Several of her works will be on display, opening reception is October 6th from 5:30-7:30. She will also be hosting a workshop. For more information, go to www.alverno.edu
Congratulations to member Chris Sommerfelt for being chosen by the Cedarburg Art Museum to have his watercolor painting selected as the image to promote Watercolor Wisconsin 2017, quite an honor!
Mary Ellen Mueller’s newly released book is now available, “A is for Amaryllis” a fine collection of hand-colored etchings and monoprints. You can get a copy at her studio during the Covered Bridge Studio Tour or go to her website.

Call for Public Art
The City of Wauwatosa has issued a call for public art for the 1st annual public art installation (of up to 3 pieces) in Hart Park. Qualified artists are invited to submit an application by December 20, 2017. Up to 3 artists will be selected to participate and a stipend of up to $3,000 per artist will be awarded.
MIAD’s Galleries Launch Nationwide Call for Art & Design Exhibitions
The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) and its galleries — the Frederick Layton Gallery and Brooks Stevens Gallery — invite professional artists, designers and curators nationwide to submit proposals for exhibitions. Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis, however, proposals for consideration for the 2018-19 season are due January 31, 2018.
Exhibition proposals may be submitted at miad.edu/galleryrfp.
MIAD’s Annual Sale of Student and Alumni Art & Design Work
MILWAUKEE… The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) hosts its annual sale of student and alumni art and design work November 30 – December 2, 2017 at MIAD’s 4th Floor Raw Space, 273 E. Erie St.
At the MIAD Holiday Sale, a holiday tradition held every year during the first weekend of December, visitors can shop thousands of one-of-a-kind art and design creations from emerging and established artists and designers at all price points. Gifts available include sculptures, paintings, photographs, furniture, cards, coasters, jewelry, handbags, ceramics and more. Plus, meet the artists and designers who are behind the amazing creations.
Preview Night is November 30, 6 – 9 p.m. and admission is $10. Tickets are available to purchase at the door. Free admission for the MIAD Holiday Sale is December 1, 5 – 9 p.m. and December 2, noon to 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the MIAD Holiday Sale support the more than 100 participating artists and designers, and benefit MIAD student scholarships.
Now in its seventh year, the MIAD Holiday Sale annually draws more than 1,000 visitors to MIAD’s campus in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. The sale coincides with the Historic Third Ward’s Christmas in the Ward celebration. MIAD’s galleries, which are free to the public, are open during the sale.
